Brno (also known as Brünn in German language) is the second largest city in Czech Republic with population approximately 400 000 direct inhabitants. It lies in the central part of Europe, about 200 km from Prague, 130 km from Vienna and approximately 140 km from Bratislava. Brno is situated in a vast valley, surrounded by the slopes of the woody headlands of the Czech-Moravian and Drahany highlands. Only towards to the south the valley is opened to the large plains with the common basin of the rivers Svratka and Svitava. Thanks to its location, Brno has very pleasant climate and high air quality. |

Brno is a natural metropolis of Moravia, one of the historic lands of the Czech Crown. The city and its neighborhood currently is one of the most rapidly developing regions in Czech Republic. It is a seat in total of 11 universities with more than 60 000 students and it is also a place of many important legal institutions and several foreign consulates. Brno is a leading center for science and technology, production, trade and industry, design and logistic operations in the Moravian region.The Brno Exhibition Center with its 80 year old tradition is the venue of many international trade fairs, exhibitions and congresses. Brno is also an important center of cultural enjoyment with its numerous theatres, concert halls, museums and cinemas. Brno is situated at a junction of pan-European highways linking the major cities of the central Europe, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy and the Baltic region. High speed railways connect Brno with Prague, Vienna, Warszawa, Budapest and Bratislava. The conference place Brno University of Technology is one of the largest and major universities in Brno, consisting of eight faculties. The summer topology conference is hosted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, which affords the rooms and lecture halls for the conference and most of the electronic and audio-visual equipment. Some of the rooms are afforded also by the Faculty of Business and Management, which shares the conference building with the main host. A free Wi-Fi internet connection and a modern computer equipment is a matter of course. |

The main conference building at Kolejní 4, is located in a calm, northwest part of the city, in one of many university campuses in Brno. The campus is adjacent to the Czech Technology Park, one of the most important centers of research, technology, commerce and light industry in Brno. The campus creates with the technology park one integral complex. In the immediate neighborhood there are partially wooded slopes of the nature reserve Medlánecké kopce, protecting some, in the region uncommon kinds of plants, animals and insect. Thus the location, among others, is a possible example of the integration of the research, technology and environmental protection. In the campus area there is also a university dormitory, Hotel Palacký, which will be offered as one of the accommodation possibilities for the participants.
